Exhibition: Atsumi Peninsula Shell Mound Exhibition

So amazing! Jomon of the Atsumi Peninsula

Tahara City Museum

10/4(Sat)~11/30(Sun) 09:00~17:00

The shell mounds of the Atsumi Peninsula have been investigated since the Meiji era, and the national historic site Yoshikoh Shell Mound, the prefectural historic site Ikawazutsu Shell Mound, and the city historic site Hubi Shell Mound are known as the three major shell mounds of Atsumi. These shell mounds have been investigated by anthropologists and archaeologists, contributing greatly to the development of anthropology and archaeology in Japan, and have long been recognized as representative sites of the Jomon period. In this exhibition, materials from past surveys return home after 100 years, along with exhibits of materials obtained from the latest surveys and research.
