The tea ceremony is a representative traditional culture of Japan, but many of the tools used are made overseas. They can be broadly categorized into "Mitate" and "Chumon." Mitate refers to tea ceremony tools repurposed from originally different uses, such as the Korean well-side tea bowl named "Nagasaki." Chumon refers to ordered items reflecting Japanese preferences, such as the Chinese "Important Cultural Property, Shōzui Mikan Mizusashi." Additionally, tea ceremony tools accompanied by Indian-made sarasa for the Japanese market will also be on display.
