The New Year starts from 'Sumiyossan'
"When it comes to Hatsumode, everyone in Osaka says it's Sumiyossan." On New Year's Eve, people gather from everywhere, filling the area in front of the gate. As the drum strikes exactly at midnight, a chorus of worshippers' applause rings out, and the precincts overflow with people praying for a year of happiness. The number of visitors during the first three days of the year is two million every year, becoming a spiritual home for many, including those in Osaka. Let's pay our New Year's greetings at the head shrine of Sumiyoshi Shrine.
