Spring Watari Matsuri

The ceremonies of Futarasan Shrine, held twice a year on December 15 (Winter Watari Matsuri) and January 15 (Spring Watari Matsuri), are collectively referred to as "otariya". In January, there is an event where the New Year pine decorations are burned, marking the end of the New Year for the citizens. It is said that placing the smoke on one’s head brings blessings such as safety in the home, health, and fire prevention, attracting many visitors from the city and surrounding areas to pay their respects late into the night.

Held every year on January 15. 8:00 AM - 8:00 PM O-takiage (registration until 6:00 PM). 4:30 PM Shugo-sai (inside the shrine). 5:00 PM O-tabijyo-sai (offering of dengaku dance). 5:30 PM City procession. 7:00 PM Return. 7:30 PM Kanjo-sai (inside the shrine).
