Utsunomiya Futarasan Shrine Daito Kagura (September)

The shrine grounds are filled with lively sounds
A performance奉納神楽 that has been continuing since the mid-Edo period. It belongs to the Edo lineage of the Kanda school (which originated from Wakayama in Asakusa) and is referred to as the Miyabiryu Daito Kagura at the shrine. It is offered on the 28th of January, May, and September every year. In an era with little entertainment, Kagura was one of the people's joys, and it is said that young and old filled the shrine grounds. Today, it is preserved by a Kagura preservation society as a traditional folk performing art.
