Held on the day before the autumn equinox in September each year, this is Kyushu's largest tug-of-war event, attracting many participants and spectators from not only the city but also the surrounding areas. Residents come together from early morning to prepare the giant rope, which is approximately 365 meters long, 40 centimeters in diameter, and weighs about 7 tons.
