Nishio's Autumn Festival, Omaint Festival

Clinging to the necks of galloping horses and running together
"Omaint Festival" is said to have been an ancient coming-of-age ceremony celebrating young men's adulthood. The festival features participants clinging to the necks of galloping horses, and is also known as "Zuri Uma." At Nakahata Hachiman Shrine in Nakahatacho, Nishio City, young people race alongside horses in a specially constructed circular horse track approximately 120 meters in circumference. It can truly be said to be a festival where humans and horses become one. It is designated as a City Intangible Folk Cultural Asset.
