Mikizukuri

A rough ritual where people grab red rice with their hands
A festival that began in the late Edo period, it is an agricultural festival to pray for a year of good health by eating red rice. A fierce ritual where a cursed man fights for a sacred rice container filled with red rice received from the deity. When he breaks the lid of the container with his bare hands, spectators rush in and grab the red rice with their hands. It is designated as a City Intangible Folk Cultural Asset.
