A garden dyed in autumn colors

Momiji Park

11/1(Sat)~11/19(Wed)

This garden used to be part of the large temple garden of Hōdō-ji, a temple of the Shingon sect. During the Kanbun era (around 1665), the feudal lord Matsudaira Tadahiro collaborated with gardeners from Edo to create a garden using leftover stones from the Ninomaru Garden of Yamagata Castle and momiji from Yoshino. It is designed as a pond-style garden, where visitors can walk around the 'Shin' pond, shaped like the character for 'heart', and enjoy the seasonal beauty. Especially during autumn, the vibrant colors of the leaves are breathtakingly beautiful, captivating visitors.
