Special Exhibition 'Sendai in the Showa Era - War and Peace, and People's Lives'

Year 1 of the Showa era marks 100 years ago, and this year celebrates 80 years since the end of World War II. This exhibition introduces the changes in the cityscape of Sendai and the tools of people's lives that transformed during this era. It shows the changes in the town due to war damage and post-war reconstruction, and how the spread of home appliances during the period of rapid economic growth significantly transformed daily life, reflecting on the magnitude of change during the Showa era and its connection to the present.

Closed on Mondays (except holidays), the day after holidays (excluding Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays), the fourth Thursday of every month, and from August 24 to 29 (temporary closure for building fumigation). Last admission is until 16:15.

Admission fee: General/University students 240 yen (190 yen), High school students 180 yen (140 yen), Elementary/Middle school students 120 yen (90 yen) *The prices in parentheses are for groups of 30 or more. Elementary and middle school students presenting the 'Doko Demo Passport' are free.
