Special Exhibition 'Feudal Lords and Bodai-sho'

Special Exhibition 'Feudal Lords and Bodai-sho'

The “end of life activities” of feudal lords?!

Saitama Prefectural Museum of History and Folklore

10/11(Sat)~11/24(Mon) 09:00~16:30

A bodai-sho refers to a place for mourning the deceased, specifically a place for offering prayers for ancestors. For feudal lords during the Edo period, it was an important occasion to express their position as rightful successors by paying respects to their ancestors and conducting the funerals of their parents. This exhibition focuses on the bodai-sho where feudal lords who supported over 260 years of peace are laid to rest.
