Established in 1374 as a prayer site for the Ōuchi clan, which held sway over the Chūgoku region. It is one of the top temples in the prefecture. The garden designed by the garden designer Saneki Shigemori, known as the 'Shuchō of the Showa Era,' is famous, featuring six elegant gardens including the 'Curved Water Garden,' which is centered around the flow of water. In October 2021, it was registered as a National Registered Monument (scenic site). Particularly known as a spot for autumn leaves, it draws many visitors looking to enjoy the vibrant colors of autumn and beautiful gardens during that season.
