[Hydrangea - Best Viewing] Shimizu Temple, Takasaki City

Shimizu Temple, where hydrangeas are in full bloom

Shimizu Temple

Mid-Jun~Early Jul

It is said that Seii Taishōgun Sakanoue no Tamuramaro enshrined and established the temple after praying for the health and longevity of his soldiers during the Ezo campaign, bringing in the temple from Kiyomizu-dera in Higashiyama, Kyoto. Approximately 300 hydrangeas bloom vibrantly on either side of the stone steps leading down from Kannon Mountain. The hydrangeas that color the picturesque Shimizu Temple are worth a look.
