This course begins with Leonardo da Vinci's friction experiments and explains the history leading to modern friction testing and bearing technology. It introduces Desargues' adhesion experiment and the evolved theories of friction and wear based on it, the relationship between Hooke's elasticity theory and acoustic emission, and the visualization of voiceprints achieved at Bell Labs along with the latest advancements in AE technology, tracing the trajectory of technological innovation from the past to the future. Participants will also have the opportunity to experience experiments, making it enjoyable for children and those outside the field. ■Notes Organizer: Saitama Institute of Technology / Participation is recommended for ages 9 and up
