29th Koshu Highway Ohara-juku Honjin Festival

Daimyō Procession of Sagami Lake
This festival is held to revitalize the local community by utilizing the only remaining Honjin (an inn where daimyō stayed during the sankin-kōtai) in Kanagawa Prefecture, and to pass down the historical culture of the Edo period to future generations. On the day of the event, a “Daimyō Procession” will be held. The streets along the road will recreate the townscape of the Koshu Highway, featuring traditional Honjin drums and music performed by local groups, a daimyō tea ceremony, street performances, old-fashioned shops, and an exhibition of historical posters from the Honjin Festival at the Ohara Village.
