'Shirakaba' Introduction and Spread of Western Art in Japan

An exhibition of the literary and artistic magazine 'Shirakaba' is being held!
The magazine 'Shirakaba' greatly contributed to the introduction of Western art in modern Japan. This exhibition will introduce exhibitions organized by Shirakaba, oil paintings by the central figure of the magazine, Masamune Kōji, as well as book design prints by Ryūsei Kishida, who worked on many covers of 'Shirakaba'. Additionally, the magazine 'Shirakaba' not only introduced Western art through illustrations and texts but also held exhibitions by procuring artworks. Visitors can view valuable materials from that time, such as exhibition tickets and flyers. ■Notes For related events, please refer to the website.
