Mount Azuma is part of the "Hiba-Dogo-Taishaku National Park" and is located about 35 km north of Shobara City in northern Hiroshima Prefecture. There is a legend that the husband Izanagi-no-Mikoto called out to his wife Izanami-no-Mikoto who sleeps in Mount Hiba saying, "Oh, my wife." It is rich in beech primeval forests and is a treasure trove of subalpine plants such as chalk moss.
