Ihata Yakushi Marathon

The hardest marathon in Japan, climbing 1,138 stone steps
The memorable first event was held on November 11, 1979, and it is a very historic event that continues to this day. After the start, there is a sudden drop of about 200 meters in elevation. The approach to the stone steps may seem flat at first glance, but it actually has a gentle incline. With the damage from the descent lingering, the final challenge of 1,138 stone steps awaits. The taste of the specialty 'shijimi soup' from Lake Shinji after finishing is exceptionally delightful. Limited to 600 participants.
