Designated Natural Monument of Yamagata Prefecture
It has been designated as a Natural Monument of Yamagata Prefecture as a breeding ground for the Morita frog. The fresh greenery in May and the autumn leaves in October are especially beautiful, making it popular for photography and trekking. Even without trekking, you can view it from 'Nozoki' on the Chokai Kogen Line.
