Masaki Ikegami, who has been the editor of the quarterly publication 'SHIP!' that considers social issues related to hikikomori and difficulty living, has continued to cover hikikomori-related topics for about 30 years. As a family member of a person affected, he is also involved in the activities of the KHJ National Hikikomori Family Association. He explains the history of hikikomori support, intertwining it with social issues and news, through interviews with over 1,500 individuals affected and experiences from support activities, including examples of failures.
