The "Fude Matsuri" (Brush Festival) has been held since 1935, featuring various events related to brushes every year on the autumn equinox. Events include brush memorial services held at Sakakiyama Shrine, a brush market where local manufacturers offer all types of brushes at special prices once a year, large-scale calligraphy on a cloth measuring about 20 tatami mats, competitive writing contests, Higan boats, brush dances, hands-on crafts, photo contests, Kagura performances, art experiences, live stages, and food stalls, among many other activities.
