The Miyagi Prefectural Museum of Art has a rich collection of paintings from the Meiji to Showa periods. This exhibition showcases works by Yuichi Takahashi, the origin of the collection, and modern art history signposts such as Shunsuke Matsumoto, while also illuminating the developments in post-war art and the vibrant and tumultuous times of the Concrete Art Association. The collection includes masterpieces by Kandinsky and other German Expressionist artists, contributing richly to the museum's identity. It also features the cherished 'Sunouchi Collection,' which the art dealer never parted with.
