On April 11, 1792 (Kan'ei 4), Mount Myōzan collapsed due to volcanic activity on Unzen. The "Kan'ei Tsunami Monument" conveys the memory of the massive tsunami that was triggered. In this lecture, we will explain the thoughts of the people at that time through the tsunami monuments that remain in Kumamoto Prefecture and consider preparations for disasters. The lecturer is Mr. Keitaro Sakaguchi (Kumamoto Prefectural Decorative Tomb Museum).
