[Autumn Leaves/Peak Viewing] Hongoai

[Autumn Leaves/Peak Viewing] Hongoai

Beyond time, reflecting autumn leaves, Mogamigawa

Hongoai

10/15(Wed)~11/15(Sat)

The Hongoai area in Shinjo City is designated as a national scenic site as the 'Scenic Area of Oku no Hosomichi,' which the famous haiku poet Matsuo Basho visited. Near the summit of Hakkoyama, located on the right bank of the Mogamigawa River, remnants of a castle built during the medieval period can be found, creating a spectacular landscape of the majestic flow of the Mogamigawa River and the autumn leaves adorning the white cliffs of Hakkoyama. From the 'Landing Site of Basho' where it is said that Basho rode down the Mogamigawa River by boat, you can experience the natural beauty described in the Oku no Hosomichi on the Hongoai route. ■ Notes For inquiries about the boat ride from the Landing Site of Basho (Hongoai route), please contact Mogami Basho Line Tourism (0233-72-2001).
