This castle was built by Uesugi Kenshin as a strategic base for his invasion of Shinano. Currently, visitors can reminisce about the past with the restored gate, earthen walls, and stone walls. In mid to late April, it becomes a famous cherry blossom spot with the magnificent bloom of Somei Yoshino.
