This festival is said to be the most bizarre festival in Fukui Prefecture. The reason for this is the festival's biggest attraction, the "Abare Tengu." While marching towards Hiyoshi Shrine, the Tengu brandishes a sacred staff resembling the "male symbol" from within its clothing, chasing after onlookers such as women and children to poke them with the staff. It is said that being poked with this staff will bring blessings of children.
