2025 Mikawa Isshiki Great Lantern Festival

A festival with a history of over four hundred years
The Mikawa Isshiki Suwa Shrine, said to have been founded in the Eiroku era (1558-1570) by enshrining a part of the deity of Suwa in Shinano, hosts the "Mikawa Isshiki Great Lantern Festival". The festival features six giant lanterns measuring 6 to 10 meters in length, which are said to have originated from bonfires lit to calm the ocean's demons. Enjoy this historically significant and powerful festival, designated as tangible folk cultural assets by Aichi Prefecture.
