Hirofumi Kawabata is the eldest son of the 6th generation maki-e artist, Kawanata Chikusa. From a young age, he was strongly influenced by his grandfather and father, becoming familiar with lacquer art. He has a deep love for nature, cherishing the sensitivities of his childhood, and continues to create works. He will explain what lacquer trees and lacquer are, the materials for maki-e, tools, and materials, as well as his own works.
