Sakura in Full Bloom: Sekisho-buri no Sakura

Approximately 250 years old, a popular cherry blossom among photography enthusiasts

Saku City Gorohei Memorial Hall Grounds

Mid-Apr~Late Apr

On the grounds of the Gorohei Memorial Hall, there is a weeping cherry blossom known as "Sekisho-buri no Sakura," designated as a natural monument of Saku City. This cherry tree is estimated to be around 250 years old, with a trunk circumference of 3.5 meters. The solitary tree set against the backdrop of the Saku Plain and Mount Asama can only be seen here. Locally, it is also referred to as "Naeshirizakura" because the cultivation of rice seedlings begins in conjunction with its blooming. Additionally, since it was brought from Jigen-ji Temple, which has connections with the Ichikawa family, it is also called "Jigensakura."
