Once every 10 years, the emperor sends an imperial envoy to the shrine to offer offerings (heihaku) to the deity. There are 16 shrines nationwide referred to as "the shrine for the imperial envoy's visit," one of which is Usa Jingu. Additionally, the Kure Bridge becomes a rare sacred bridge traversed by the imperial envoy once every 10 years. ■Notes For more details, please refer to the Usa Jingu homepage.
