The 70th National Kokeshi Festival

The National Kokeshi Festival and Naruko Lacquerware Exhibition bring together traditional kokeshi from all over the country, with craftsmen from various kokeshi styles demonstrating, exhibiting, and selling their work. There will be an exhibition of award-winning works, displays and sales of Naruko lacquerware, a festival parade, and a kokeshi dedication ceremony. ■Notes The content of the event may change depending on the situation regarding the spread of the coronavirus.

Note

On September 5 (Friday), only the Kokeshi Memorial Ceremony will be held from 18:00 (open for viewing). On September 6 (Saturday), the main venue will have kokeshi display sales from 10:00 to 17:00, and the festival parade in the hot spring town from 18:30 to 19:30. On September 7 (Sunday), the main venue will have kokeshi display sales from 9:00 to 16:00.
