Kahoku Town Benibana Museum "After Hina Matsuri"

Come see a Hina Matsuri for adults
The ninth day of the ninth month, when odd numbers overlap, is 'Chōyō no Sekku', which was brought from China and is also known as the Chrysanthemum Festival, a day for wishing for longevity. Another purpose was to re-display the Hina dolls that were displayed on Hina Matsuri (Peach Festival) on March 3rd, to air them out and prolong their lifespan. While the Peach Festival is aimed at children, Chōyō no Sekku is considered an adult event, and 'After Hina' is often referred to as 'Adult Hina Matsuri'. In this exhibition, in addition to displaying Hina dolls from the Edo period to the present from the collection, we will also showcase clothing dyed with benibana (safflower).
