Akira Seike Archaeology Lecture 'The Identity of the Individual Buried in Zouyama Kofun'

Approaching the identity of the individual buried in the fourth largest Zouyama Kofun!

Kurashiki City Tamashima Community Exchange Center Minato Hall

9/27(Sat) 14:00~15:30

In Kibi, there is the fourth largest kofun (tumulus) in Japan. Why was a kofun comparable to the royal tombs built in Kibi, and who was buried there? Kibi has always had a strong connection with the Yamato regime in the Kinai region. The Zouyama Kofun also shows elements of a strong connection with the royal tombs in the Kinai region. By considering this along with theories of kinship and royal authority, we can illustrate the identity of the individual buried in the Zouyama Kofun.
