Autumn Aobako Viewed from the Observation Deck

Aobako

Late Oct~Mid-Nov

"Aobako" is the nickname of the dam lake created by the "Yasumasa Dam" which took a long time to complete. There is a legend that the village submerged by the dam's construction was where Lord Shigemori fled after his admonitions to his father, Lord Kiyomori, were not accepted. It is said that the lake is named after the "Aoba flute," which Lord Shigemori is believed to have brought with him. From the observation decks located on either side of the lakeshore, visitors can enjoy picturesque views throughout the seasons, and in autumn, the beautiful foliage can be admired.
