[Autumn Leaves - Peak Viewing] Oirase's Great Ginkgo

It is said to be over 1,100 years old, standing at 32m tall with a trunk circumference of 16m. It is worshipped as a guardian deity for mothers and safe childbirth. There is also a legend that when the priest Jikaku visited this area and fell asleep due to travel fatigue, the ginkgo tree he leaned against took root and grew into the current great ginkgo tree. It was designated as a natural monument of Aomori Prefecture in 1994.
