The Iroha Maple (also known as Takao Maple) is a deciduous broadleaf tree that is distributed from western Fukushima Prefecture to Honshu, Shikoku, Kyushu, and the southern part of the Korean Peninsula, and is widely planted as a garden tree. It grows slowly, so those that exceed a trunk circumference of 2m at breast height can be called large trees. The 'Iroha Maple Group in Kamiki' has its largest tree with a trunk circumference of 3.25m at breast height, and includes 9 other trees that exceed 2m at breast height, making it a rare collection of large trees nationwide.
