The Ogaki Matsuri, which announces the arrival of early summer in the castle town of Ogaki, was registered as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage in December 2016. It started in the first year of Keian (1648) when the Hachiman Shrine, the main shrine of the castle town of Ogaki, was rebuilt and 10 floats were created and paraded. With a tradition of over 370 years, 13 floats parade through the castle town, showcasing a splendid Genroku picture scroll. Every year, around 500 stalls line up at the Ogaki Matsuri, enhancing the festival atmosphere. ■Note The surrounding roads can be congested, so it is recommended to use public transportation when attending the Ogaki Matsuri.
