This Japanese garden is located in the Mito Romantic Zone and is said to have started when Tokugawa Mitsukuni named it Ho-Wa-en. It was expanded and renovated by local volunteers in the early Showa period, becoming a pure Japanese garden with a pond and built hills, and was renamed "Ho-Wa-en." In early summer, approximately 6,000 hydrangeas of about 100 varieties beautifully decorate the garden.
