Kazuo Iwamura's Picture Book Sketchbook (First Semester)

Opened in 1998, the Kazuo Iwamura Picture Book Hill Museum focuses on the themes of 'picture books, nature, and children.' It is a beautiful hill that serves as the backdrop for many of Iwamura's picture books, surrounded by abundant natural scenery. To realistically depict the plants surrounding the anthropomorphized protagonists, sketches of everything from flowers, seeds, squirrels, and mice to children have been compiled in a sketchbook. The museum showcases the charm of Iwamura's picture books with original illustrations from his representative series '14-Hiki' and 'Adventure on Togari Mountain.'
