Gokurakuji Temple

Gokurakuji is an old temple of the Soto school of Zen. The largest weeping cherry tree in the prefecture, located within the temple grounds, is a light pink color with a strong red hue. Every year, from late March to early April, its magnificent appearance can be seen, with a history of about 140 years. The main hall enshrines the Yakushi Sanzon, and the Nikko and Gekko Bosatsu on the sides are said to be from the Fujiwara period.
