Ritsurin Garden, designated as a Special Place of Scenic Beauty by the national government, possesses the largest area among gardens of its kind. Set against the backdrop of Mount Shiun, it features six ponds and thirteen artificial hills, showcasing exceptional landscaping and stonework from the early Edo period. The water lilies, which reach peak bloom in summer, display different beauties at various locations: pale pink and yellow at the southern end of Fuyōnuma, white and red near the stone wall of Sai-ko, and pale pink and red at Kansui-chi.
