Opening the Architecture Archives Vol.2: Town Diagnostician Tsunehiko Kitazawa - Shopping Streets and Citizens in the Post-Economic Growth Era

Tsunehiko Kitazawa, as an employee of the Kyoto City Small and Medium Enterprise Guidance Center, conducted commercial diagnostic surveys of Kyoto's shopping streets, retail markets, and individual shops from the 1970s to the 1990s, pondering the way the town should be. Through the materials donated to the Museum of Art and Design, we can decipher how Kitazawa and others thought about the 'town' and conducted their surveys, while also depicting the appearance of post-economic growth Kyoto through their survey records, including diagnostic reports, travel reports, photographs, and letters between Kitazawa and merchants.
