Nagasu Spirit Sending

The Nagasu Obon event, registered as a national intangible folk cultural asset, is a traditional event in Nagasu where magnificent lanterns known as palace lanterns are used to offer condolences by burning them in front of graves. It involves carrying lanterns from each household to the Nagasu community graveyard and burning them at the gravesite. *While the time varies for each household, there is a tendency to leave home around 3 PM.
