June 15 is 'Parrot and Cockatoo Day'. The Japan Association of Zoos and Aquariums established this day in 2006, in reference to '06 (Parrot) 15 (Cockatoo)', to raise awareness about the status of parrots and cockatoos that are threatened with extinction in the wild. Asa Zoo supports this initiative by displaying panels, distributing commemorative badges, and providing special explanations by the caretakers.
