Since it became a temple established by Emperor Kanmu over a thousand years ago, it has been a spiritual site cherished in Toyo, recognized as a scenic spot with exceptional seasonal views and designated by the prefecture. There are many national treasures and cultural properties, and throughout the year, numerous pilgrims and tourists visit. In autumn, about 200 kōyō trees turn red, creating a stunning contrast with the buildings.
