New Crop Thanksgiving Festival & Ritual Knife Offering (Formerly Shinjun Festival)

Bringing the Heian Court Events to the Present!
Takeya Shrine is the only shrine in Japan that enshrines the god of cooking. Dressed in an eboshi and a hitatare, using only a kitchen knife and a cooking chopstick, this solemn ritual follows ancient traditions by preparing koi and other ingredients without any physical contact.
