[Cherry Blossoms - Best Viewing] Yashiro Dam

A rare rock-fill dam on the islands of Setouchi

Yashiro Dam

Late Mar~Early Apr

This is a full-scale rock-fill dam, which is rare on the islands of Setouchi, with a total water storage capacity of 1.55 million tons, a dam height of 46.5 m, and a dam length of 371.7 m. Construction started in 1984, and upon completion in March 1991, the park development around the dam progressed, becoming a new tourist attraction. At Yashiro Lake, water birds such as swans, ducks, and geese can be seen playing, and the lakeside has an event square, an outdoor stage, and a large artificial turf slide called 'Chibikko Gerende.' Environmental enhancements such as plantings of daffodils and cherry trees have also been carried out.
