300-year-old trees, a cherry blossom spot known to those in the know
Fukouji is an ancient temple of the Shingon sect, said to have been founded in the 2nd year of the Daido era (807) during the Heian period. Within its grounds, there is a weeping cherry tree that is said to be over 300 years old. The cherry tree standing in the tranquil landscape of the satoyama evokes a quiet sense of emotion.
