Aoinoshushuko was completed in 1964 as a facility to draw water from the Miyagawa River. The Miyagawa Irrigation Canal draws water from Aoinoshushuko and supplies necessary agricultural water to approximately 4600 hectares of farmland in the southern Ise Plain. It is also a hidden cherry blossom spot.
