A temple related to Princess Keiko, the first daughter of Emperor Juntoku
The temple "Keigyu-ji" was founded in 807, with the mountain name Jingo-san. The temple's name is derived from the legend that Princess Keiko, the first daughter of Emperor Juntoku, spent her days here. Because the princess held the deity Fukurokuju in high regard, artist Babori Hogen Yoshitaka donated the "Jingo Fukurokuju". It is one of the pilgrimage routes for the Seven Lucky Gods of Sado. The "Hasso-do" equipped with a rotating octagonal shrine is a designated tangible cultural asset of the prefecture. During the autumn foliage season, the stairs covered in fallen leaves have a very picturesque quality.
